RECAP: RCGNIZE! – The First Edition

Working together with the good people from Sup Clothing, RCGNTN brought local flavour to the fore and force-fed the Haji Lane crowd with a plethora of works from local artists, ranging from photography to sneaker customisation to live painting.

It was great to see so many familiar faces coming together and making this event a success. Even fixed gear heads showed some love and dropped by Haji Lane. The atmosphere was electric, Aaron a.k.a. Lazyman was ferocious on the mic. He dropped some holy 16′s that would make any freestyle MC proud while The Killer Gerbil played the Dub Siren.

Overall I’d say it was quite an awesome street party. We generated enough buzz to actually pull in quite a few foreigners to take a look at the artworks on show and did I mention the merry-making and dancing going on in the streets? The crowd  were actually rocking and grooving to local music. It was an awesome sight.

Let’s hope the event would have created more awareness towards the local arts scene. It may be small and largely unnoticed, but trust me, we don’t plan to just sit down and do nothing. This time around we’re really gonna go hard and make sure the locals get RCGNIZED!

Special thanks to the following for making RCGNIZE! – The First Edition a huge success -

Artists: Zero, Antz, Anwar, The Killer Gerbil, Clogtwo, Sheryo, Phu, Hypethetic, Lazy.
Photographers: Bum Ariffin, Haiqal, Juffrie.

Shout outs also to Sup Clothing for the venue, Stage57 for the PA system, Teams CAS/Fixpatrix/PEONFX, Team Sole Obsession, Team Nookmag, Anthony of Leftfoot and Zirca/Rebel reps Drayson & Yifang.

If you’re so very local, why do you insist on spelling recognise with a Z, the American way?

  4. Administrator says:

    cos we’re rojak like that.

  5. Yasin says:

Because the last time we checked, there was no local way to spell “recognize”. Spelling it with an S instead of a Z makes it British. Do we look British to you?
